Description
The M6 Series is the economic variant in WPL's marine platform range. It weighs loads up to 3000 kg on a fully sealed, four-load-cell platform in AISI 316 stainless steel, and it can be supplied with an access ramp so trolleys and pallet trucks can roll on and off.
Sealed for daily washdown
The M6 has a fully sealed construction, designed to withstand daily washdown and the corrosive effect of salt water. Smooth, hygienic surfaces make cleaning quick. EU hygiene rules require equipment on board that handles fishery products to be corrosion-resistant and easy to clean and disinfect (Regulation (EC) No 853/2004, Annex III, Section VIII). For more on materials and enclosure ratings, see stainless steel 304, 316 and 316L compared and IP67, IP68 and IP69K explained.
Motion and tilt compensation
The M6 compensates automatically for vessel motion and tilt. Vertical acceleration of the deck adds to or subtracts from the force on the load cells, and a tilted platform reduces the force they measure; without correction, a heavy load gives a reading that swings with the sea. Why ordinary scales fail at sea and how motion compensation works explain both effects.
Four load cells support the platform, which gives stable and repeatable results under all conditions.
Access ramp and loading
With the optional access ramp, goods can be wheeled onto the platform instead of lifted. That makes loading easier and safer when you weigh bins on trolleys or pallets on a hand pallet truck. Plan the ramp direction together with the scale location; installing marine scales covers placement on deck.
Indicator and connectivity
The M6 works with the R10 indicator for clear readout and control, and a wall mount is included. Options include RS232, Ethernet, WiFi, USB, Bluetooth LE, a battery, remote displays, relay boards, digital I/O signals, label printers and report programs. The WeightControl IOT module logs every weighing automatically. Where platform scales are used to weigh pallets of fishery products under EU control rules, at least an automatic or semi-automatic log of those weighings is required (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1932, Annex I, Part B, point 5); approval for that use is decided nationally, see the legal metrology hub.
Typical applications
- Weighing bins, tubs and pallets on factory vessels and trawlers.
- Roll-on weighing with a trolley or pallet truck on aquaculture and well boats.
- Stores and waste weighing on offshore vessels.
M6 or M5?
Both series share the same platforms (1000×1000, 1200×1200 and 1500×1500 mm), capacities (600, 1500 and 3000 kg) and options. Choose the M6 when a sealed, fixed platform with an optional ramp suits your deck. Choose the M5 when the platform must flip up for cleaning or to free deck space, or when you also need gravity compensation.
