Description
The R10 is a weighing indicator that WPL Industries designs and builds in the Netherlands. It reads one to three scales with analogue strain gauge load cells and can work as a standalone terminal or as part of a larger industrial weighing system through its USB, serial, Ethernet and fieldbus connections. The same R10 electronics are used in WPL's marine scales.
Housing, display and keypad
The housing is made of AISI 316 stainless steel, is easy to clean and suits sites with strict hygiene standards in food, pharmaceutical and chemical production. Tabletop, wall, column and panel-mount versions are available, as AC or DC models. Weight, IDs and operator prompts are shown on a 14 mm (0.56 in) seven-segment white LED display with adjustable brightness. The sealed membrane keypad gives tactile feedback, and password protection prevents unwanted changes to user and configuration settings.
Weighing electronics
Three ADC channels with 24-bit sigma-delta conversion allow up to three platforms on one indicator. Each can be set up as single range, multi-range or multi-interval, and filter settings for light, medium or heavy disturbance adapt the reading to the location. Temperature monitoring, a real-time clock and a battery charge circuit are on board. Interface modules for digital load cells are optional, and a verified version for trade use in the EU and in countries that follow OIML recommendations (M marking) is available as an option for selected configurations, with a metrological hardware sealing kit.
Applications and presets
The built-in applications cover simple weighing, parts counting, checkweighing with plus and minus tolerances, filling and calculation. Up to 50 presets store an under limit, target and over limit together with a tare value and price. Four relay outputs and 13 digital I/O channels can signal weight thresholds, accept start and tare commands from external switches, or run a filling sequence with a start/stop switch. Tickets with header text, gross and net weight, accumulated totals and setpoints can be printed, including on a label printer.
Connectivity and software
Through the USB device port a PC can read the weight and control zero, tare and other functions remotely. After each weighing cycle the R10 can send date, time, IDs and weight over the serial port or Ethernet, and a built-in command interpreter offers more than 120 commands for integration. A slot for Arduino Uno form-factor shields adds WiFi, Bluetooth or Ethernet. Further options are an analogue output, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and DeviceNet interfaces, flash data storage and a battery pack. The guide to scale interfaces helps you choose.
For registration on a Windows PC or tablet, see WeightControl Base; service settings, presets and backups are handled with the R10 Configuration Panel. Compare other terminals in indicators and labelling, or request a quote for an R10 with your platform.
